How to block websites on your iPad using a VPN
If you want to block a website on your iPad, you can do so by using a VPN. A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is a service that encrypts your internet traffic and routes it through a server in another location. This has the effect of making it appear as if you are accessing the internet from that other location, which can be useful for accessing websites that are blocked in your country or region.
There are many VPN services available, but we recommend ExpressVPN as it is one of the simplest to use and has servers in many different countries.
1. Download the ExpressVPN app from the App Store.
2. Open the app and connect to a server in the country or region where the website you want to access is not blocked. For example, if you want to access a website that is blocked in the United States, you would connect to a server in Canada.
3. Once connected, open your web browser and go to the website you want to visit. You should now be able to access it without any problems.
How to block websites on your iPad using DNS
You can block websites on your iPad by using a DNS service. This will route all traffic from the blocked website through a server that will return an error message, preventing you from accessing the site.
To block a website using DNS, you will need to set up a DNS server on your computer and then configure your iPad to use that server. We have instructions for doing this below.
Once you have set up your DNS server, you can add addresses to it that you want to block. For example, if you wanted to block Facebook, you would add the address “www.facebook.com” to the DNS server. Any traffic that tried to go to that address would be routed through the DNS server and would not be able to reach the site.
You can find instructions for setting up a DNS server on Windows, macOS, and Linux below. Once you have your DNS server up and running, come back here and we’ll show you how to configure your iPad to use it.
1) Download the latest version of the Bind software from https://www.isc.org/downloads/bind/. Be sure to download the software for Windows.
2) Install Bind on your computer by double-clicking on the downloaded file and following the instructions in the installer.
3) Once Bind is installed, open it and click on the “Zone Management” tab. In the “Forward Zones” section, click “Add Zone”.
4) In the “Create New Zone” window that appears, enter a name for your zone (this can be anything you want) and select “Master” as the zone type. Click “OK” when you are done.
5) In the “Edit Zone” window that appears, click on the “Add Record” button in the lower left corner. In the “Name” field, enter “@” (without quotes). This will cause any requests for addresses without a specific domain name (like www or ftp) to be forwarded to our DNS server. You can also add specific domains that you want to forward (like www.facebook .com), but this is not required. Enter 1 as the TTL (time-to-live) value and select “A” as type then click OK when done . Next , in Name field , enter www as value and select CNAME as type then click Add Record again . Afterward , select ftp as value this time ; otherwise bind will not work with some apps like Safari . Finally , save all changes by selecting File > Save Config from menu bar
